In these times of censorship and disinformation, it is vital to engage in open dialogue about the impact of our social, cultural, and political practices both here and abroad.

The Samizdat Series seeks to foster this dialogue through readings and lectures by poets whose work engages issues of social concern.

From Sham to Shame
A reading of poetry that explores the feelings and reactions of those disillusioned by the agendas of government, particularly after 9/11. The reading will be held in the confines an artist’s recreation of the Abu Ghraib prison at Woman Made Gallery in conjunction with their exhibition titled From Sham to Shame.
